Hey diddle diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon
The little dog laughed to see such fun,
And the dish ran away with spoon.
There’s something so incredibly captivating about the imagery of the cow jumping over the moon. Though Wikipedia cites three different theories on the origin of “Hey Diddle Diddle”, my fascination with the nursery rhyme, or rather — my fascination with a single line of it — is much simpler. To me, it speaks much about defying the impossible.
I thank my neighbors down the street for holding such a rockin’ garage sale and for selling this under-priced pair of earrings for a mere dollar.
