Izumiya, Japantown

We visited Japantown last week and as usual, we had a lot of fun. Two Japantown eateries lie close to our hearts: Izumiya and Sophie’s Crepes.

At Izumiya, these are our favorites: fried oysters, salt ika (squid), and of course, their sushi. Izumiya has the best nigiri I’ve ever eaten. We usually order a dozen California rolls, hamachi (yellow tail), sake (salmon), saba (mackerel), ikura (salmon roe), and when we’re really in the mood for it, uni (sea urchin).

Right next door is Sophie’s Crepes, where they serve breakfast and dessert crepes. My husband usually orders a chocolate sundae while I order a cup of gelato. Mmm mmm mmm…

We always visit Kinokuniya Bookstore after. Oh, I got the August issue of Fudge — yay! Though, that deserves a blog post of its own. :)

Oh my the sushi and sweets look amazing! I also love that bookstore, they have one in NYC and my favorite section is the stationary. I found the best journals there… miss it!
