I bought this vintage-inspired ruby sequined beret from Forever 21 about a week ago. I thought it was cute and since it was only $7.80, it was a no-brainer. I wore it the entire weekend. Problem was, because I didn’t know any better, I wore it like a shower cap.
Well, today I read a post by Rebecca of The Clothes Horse. She had just bought a fabulous red dress and in her photos, she wore it with a faux leopard jacket, polka-heart tights, a Village Idiot necklace, and topped the ensemble with a vintage sequined beret — worn just so. I couldn’t help but chuckle at myself when I thought about how I wore it. See the before and after pictures below. I think it’s quite an improvement.

oh that made me laugh this morning! many a time i’ve worn something incorrectly, only to find out days later it was wrong!! but i have to say, the beret rocks! so either way, you’re rockin’ it!
I LOVE that beret! I’m pretty much a sucker for anything red and glittery, which makes it tragic that I have nothing red AND glittery in my wardrobe. I need to fix that ASAP!

Wearing berets can be a little tricky hehe:) It looks absolutely gorgeous on you post-shower cap though! I’ve been secretly yearning for one just like that! And I love the red and green combination, it’s so perfect for the season!

The colour really suits you – so pretty! I wish I had the confidence to wear hats. I’ll bear this in mind if I ever do wear one as I would have worn it like a shower cap too hehe :)

haha.. your so cute, we’ve all done stuff silly stuff like that from time to time.. The trick is to turn the story around. Instead of wearing your fun red sequence beret like a shower cap on accident, insist that you’re standing up to the lame clear baggie shower caps of the world & now showering in red glittery glory.

I chuckled when I read your description because it reminded me of my favorite strapless top which apparently is a skirt. I had no idea until a friend of mine pointed out the obvious: its belt hoops.
I love the beret both ways! And that perfect lipstick makes the whole look that much more fun!

What a gorgeous beret, so festive as well! I really want one now, though I have red hair, so possibly not a red one? I’d live a green one.
If it helps I’ve always struggled to put berets on the “right” way! I was trying one in a shop once and a complete stranger stopped me to show me how to do it right!

i had a beautiful black one..and before i could wear it.. it unravelled itself completely ..after a ‘trying-on’ session with it… so I bought a silver one…
have yet to try it on yet.. a bit scared..although i love it!
couldnt it also be worn with it slightly drooping to one side..
