Millbrae Pancake House

Pancake House

I met my good friend JeanCarl at the Millbrae Pancake House for lunch last Friday. Since it’s easy to get caught up in the stream of our busy schedules and lose touch, we have a pact to meet at least once a month for food and friendship. So far so good. Last month, we had burgers. This month, we were craving waffles!

I ordered a huge waffle with fresh strawberries and dollops of whipped cream.

Pancake House

JeanCarl ordered a Hawaiian waffle. It looked strange and unappetizing, but he’s adventurous. The waffle was dressed with pineapples beneath mounds of whipped cream and the plate was sprinkled with dried coconut.

I sampled his waffle and it wasn’t too bad, I suppose — even with the pineapple, but I liked mine a whole lot better.

Pancake House

Valentine’s Day decor hung from all the lamps in the main dining room. It was especially festive and complemented the other holiday decor — the Christmas tree was still out. It was pretty funny.

Here’s the banquet room, in the back of the restaurant, in all its vintage wallpaper glory.

Don’t you just love this? I do.

Here’s my faux Vermeer shot:

I’m still reeling from that pineapple. Maybe next month we’ll do something normal and get a pizza.

These look so amazing (and what great photos)! I miss pancake houses… in Cupertino, there is one called The Original House of Pancakes and their food is AMAZING! They have dutch babies, cinnamon and apple pancakes, latkes, crepes — anything you can think of. I’m hungry now!

Those pancakes look SO delicious at 11pm! I could go for some right now, haha. I would have gone with your pick too, instead of the pineapple. Classic strawberrys is good for pancakes!
