When I asked my husband what he thought of this outfit, he just shook his head, smiled, and said: “Couldn’t you wear some leggings or tights or something?”. I don’t think he gets it. I realize it cuts my body in half (a huge Tim Gunn no-no), but I really liked it and left the house yesterday feeling very stylish and comfortable in my *fancy* ensemble.

I think it looks just fine. Since the slacks have a slim cut to them, it’s not too much volume. And I absolutely love that Anna Sui dress! The colors and pattern are gorgeous.

What a great look! I’m a big fan of slacks/pants with dresses and wore that combo all the time in college. I think confused the heck out of people. They were like “can’t you decide?” I was just thinking out of the box, silhouette wise!

I agree with what other comments said, that sweater is gorgeous.
I only own one pair of pants, so I can’t really say I’ve ever worn the pants and dress look, but I say that if you feel good about yourself, and it isn’t *inappropriate* then you should go with what you feel like.

I love dresses with trousers. Sometimes I’m just not in the mood for leggings or tights. Men just don’t understand these things, do they! My husband never comments on my outfits, so if I have a moment of weakness and buy something new, I just don’t mention it to him, hoping he won’t notice :) Then a week or so later he’ll be looking at me all funny, and I’ll say, “Oh yeah, this is the dress I got from Uniqlo with you last year”.. but it never works and he eventually realises I’m lying :S But when I buy something from a charity shop I’ll proudly declare that I bought it for £2. I’m usually too proud of my bargain to keep it to myself :D

I too love that look of a dress over jeans or trousers. To me there’s something very casual-chic about it. I unfortunately don’t think I can get away with it…too short :) But you look great in this look…the dress is just beautiful (can’t believe it’s Target…love that!!)

omg you look LOVELY. :) guys always prefers girls in tighter outfits, but nothing beats the comfort of a pair of trousers like these. your sweater is also made of awesomeness (i’m such a sucker for cute knitwear). perfectly coordinated outfit!
