I took these photos some time ago, but found them on my desktop just today. Every time I drive down Lombard Street, I notice the retro Surf Motel. I love the design and I’m glad that this property is so well-maintained.

Classic. It’s fantastic to see that this building has been looked after and, surely, looks as good as it did when new. Thanks for sharing these photos, they remind me of where I grew up in a beach side town in Australia.

hmm, what a curious name!! :) and what lovely colours! i’m a bit fascinated with american motels, when my month-long trip around some american states finally materializes, i’ll make sure to finally get to know them better.
p.s.: that one reminded of a motel near my parent’s home in Rio; it’s called luxembourg and there are palm trees and a guy in full ski gear on the sign. it never fails to baffle me, hehe. :)
