SF Drive Thru: Garage Doors

February 25, 2010

I take a lot of photos from the passenger seat of our car. Riding shotgun has great perks: back seat driving, eating messy burritos, dozing off in the middle of rush hour traffic, and best of all, taking drive-by shots of the City when I feel too lazy to get out and walk around.

Traveling around the City like this, I’ve come to appreciate the many varieties of garage doors in San Francisco, since that’s really about all I see. Here are some shots that didn’t turn out blurry.

I can hardly believe it’s Thursday already. Really, where does the time go?

Have a great day you guys!

Those are some pretty cool garage doors. I especially like the fifth and sixth ones down.

I love San Francisco’s architecture and buildings. It gives me the sense of nostalgia and it seems very romantic. This only applies to those nice buildings… not the Tenderloin… ewww… and downtown. I wish I could live in Russian Hill, but downtown is just more convenient… aww well.

Thanks for the link love too! Your photography is great. I need to carry around a camera now… hopefully, I’ll be getting a camera soon. For now, I’m just borrowing a friend’s camera… so yeah.

I love these, also very much the 5th and 6th, but I also think the turquoise bricks are lovely.

The ones you took while walking are great too!

Too bad it’s a rainy day, I can’t wait to take some pictures in my city.

These are really pretty! Garage doors look generally the same here, plain white door (boring!). I also love the colors of these buildings! Is it common to see pretty colored houses like these in San Fransisco?

Katrina,

These photo’s are so pretty. I love them. I also love riding around shotgun. My Bono Baby likes to hang his head out of the window and we people watch, unless it’s raining. Then Bono will fog up the window and kiss it. Oh, goodness…I love my Bono Baby. Also, it’s getting late and I’m rambling. I hope you’re having a lovely week.

hugs,
kat

So cute collection!
I like the one open from the center. Maybe it’s manual, but so cute.
I wanted to get this book before.

These came out great for some drive-by photographing! Whenever I take car pictures…yikes, they’re just a blurry mess. This post is perfect timing too…we’ve been thinking of painting our front door but of course the question is “what color”. Lots of inspiration in these pix! I’m really loving the blue doors!!

Taking pictures from the passenger side of a moving vehicle takes some talent – and I can’t even tell that they WERE taking from a moving vehicle! Looks great : ) Like always!

These are so wonderful! Since my parents never let me drive in SF when I’m home, I spend a lot of time in the backseat, staring at the windows. One of the things I love to do is try and look into people’s windows when we’re stuck in slow traffic. I know that sounds totally creepy, but I love to wonder what kind of people live in these cute houses. s

Beautiful shots! I love garages like these, too – they just don’t make houses like they used to! xoxo

This is lovely. I love taking photos as a passenger – one of the greatest perks about it! I always seem to be the driver so when I’m the passenger, it feels like a luxury. This post reminds me that I must share some of mine sometime!

You’re absolutely right in saying that San Franciscan garage doors are pretty interesting…you’re lucky to live in such a beautiful and unique city (GUSH, I LOVE SF).

I must have worded the sentence poorly, what I meant was people like Tarantino have naturally interesting names, that’s why I’m going under a pseudonym now. Hehe.

I have posted one film on youtube. I’ll link it on my site. I don’t know where the original files is, or else I’d upload it onto vimeo. I’m going to have to work on my demo reel of films soon. The commercial should be done and edited in a month! Excited :)
