I’m stuck between a rock and the unknown. I’ve come to dislike my job — a lot. This feeling has grown over the years and has now reached the point of ad nauseam. I’ve come to the realization that I stayed in one place longer than I should have. Now I find myself wondering why, and I’m facing the prospect of jumping from this cramped, uncomfortable lily pad to another one, an unknown place. This thought scares me, though I know it’s the right thing to do. I’m contemplating the anatomy of “I QUIT”.
I normally refrain from writing about this kinda stuff because Pugly Pixel is about my passions, not about my day job. I’ll be glad to put this behind me and get back into the flow of things, back to visiting your blogs and back to writing about my kawaii fixations.
P.S.
I hope to see you guys on Monday for Flickr Fave. :)

oh honey!
i KNOW that feeling. . . “i quit” is a HARD thing to say and do!
i remember deciding to quit a job i hated and it ended up being the BEST thing i ever did! {possibilities opened up and my life took a turn for the better}
it’s scary to face the unknown. . . but listen to your heart. . . it will tell you what is RIGHT! ;)
hugs and love from me. . . i know you will pull through and make the best decision for you and your wonderful hubby!
good luck honey :)
awww, I hope that you follow your heart and do what is best for you, Katrina! I’ll be sending positive thoughts your way. :)

Lovely photos as usual. Change is inevitably uncomfortable and scary at first but often leads to unexpected and amazing things (cliche as it is I believe it’s true). I’m sure whatever you do will be the right decision.

Pretty Katrina,
YOU are amazing and you should be happy. I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts and wishmaking.

p.s. I love the “gloomy” photos. They go with my mood today too.

That’s a hard one, and I don’t know the answer. If hindsight is 20/20, what kind of odds can we milk from foresight? I do know this: you are (and have always been) one of the smartest, most resourceful, and generally one of the most phenomenal women I’ve ever known. I imagine you may be thinking “how would you know??” Well, I just know. You’d be surprised what one can surmise from what one sees, hears, and feels. I believe that you will land on your feet, whatever you decide. You’re young and gorgeous and creative and brilliant and genuine. You’re already 100 points ahead of the curve!
Feels like we have something in common: I never use my blog for personal issues either but sometimes you just HAVE TO mention it. Weird isn’t it?
It feels like my blog wouldn’t be complete if it didn’t include some of my daily problems. Usually they go completely unnoticed as only my closest friends know about it.
“I quit” is so damm hard. I’m struggling with letting go someone and it hurts like hell. All I know is: don’t let your job bring you down. Don’t let it make you unhappy.
See you on Monday!

Oh Katrina, I hope you make a wise decision for yourself. I’m not the person who can tell you what to do in this situation, but I think you know what to do. Do whatever you think is right!

I’m sorry you feel that way about your job. It sucks to do something you don’t enjoy. I say do whatever makes you happy and comfortable. Don’t be dissatisfied.
Love the underexposed photos! I’m finally getting a DSLR, so I’m looking forward to photo documenting more. Also I do have a film camera, it’s a Nikon FE2, but I don’t know how to use it to its full potential though… boo.
I’m only going to London for my Spring Break, just a week. I don’t graduate till May 2011 and then I get a temporary work visa that lasts for a year, so I’ll be staying in the States till at least 2012. Phew!
Have a good weekend! Feel better! *hugs*

i feel you on hating your job. i was so unhappy with my previous job that it was making me physically sick because i was so stressed, like it felt like i always had food poisoning. the second i quit and worked somewhere else it instantly went away. i know it’s scary but getting out will be good for you. plus it’s great to take a chance and try new things!

Katrina- when one door closes, another door always opens. Follow your heart and you will have no regrets. You decided to lose weight, and you did it. You decided to earn your degree while working, and you did it. You decided to open up an online shop, and you did it. YOU CAN do whatever you put your mind to. And besides, life is too short to be unhappy. :-)
That is tough but jumping lily pads is definitely an important part of life. I say, be brave and do what feels right! :)

I can sympathise with your situation, as I went through a similar experience a couple of years ago and did end up quitting my job… Just go with your heart, and everything will ultimately work out for the best. It always does :) Enjoy the rest of the weekend x

I kind of understand that you don’t wanna bring up the subject here. But I enjoy reading your blog no matter what.
My husband is in the same kind of situation. It’s hard to see him in uncomfortable mood everyday.. Things will be changed once you decide to change it!
Hope you can do something that you can put your passion in it;)

katrina, i know exactly how you’re feeling at the moment and it really is terrible, i hope you firgure things out soon. i’ve made the decision to leave my job, but it was a very difficult one as i have such a secure job and it’s risky giving it up to live on only one wage and i’m hopefully going back to college too! sometimes i’m scared about how we’ll do, but mostly i’m delighted that i’m leaving, it makes things a bit easier knowing that i’m on my way out by the end of the year :) i hope you come to a decision soon too, it’s not nice being in a job all day where you really are unhappy xx

Lady – I feel the EXACT same way as you. I used to love and adore my job but now I cry almost every Sunday night trying to go to sleep because I am so miserable at work. With the economy (especially in Michigan) being so bad, I just can’t quit just yet. I’ve been looking for jobs everywhere (including restaurants and bars and retail) just to get something different. Bascially I just want to be happy… and right now I am anything but. :-/ Good Luck and let me know what you decide to do :)
Aw, Katrina… I know what you mean. I am in the same boat with my job. but I only have two months left so I’m just going to suck it up. I hope things work out for your job-wise. I think you should do something you love or at least like!! Good luck :)

OH, I’ve had this feeling so many times in my life Katrina! It’s never easy, but quitting a job that makes you unhappy is for the best! I wish you luck.
XOXO
Oh Katrina, I’ve never suspected you had a day job. From the blog and your etsy shop, I thought they would be more than enough to keep you busy! Anyway, I’ve had the “I quit” feeling in just about every job I’ve had including my current one. Why oh why is it so difficult to find that elusive job where you’ll feel passionate waking up everyday to?
Whatever it is, I hope you find something that you’ll truly love doing and feel passionate about in the future:)
Crossing my fingers for you

Oh Katrina, how I’m with you on this one. I’ve been miserable at my day job for 3 years now (wow, where does the time go?!!) So I understand completely where you are. I think all you can do is trust your instincts…they know what’s right for you. I mean we only have one life right? Might as well be happy :)! We’re here for you!

When I used to live in Iceland there was this phrase everyone seemed to repeat whenever I was sad or in trouble. It went along the lines of: everything always works out just fine in the end. It might sound trivial but Icelandic people really live by this rule and it seems to work for them wonderfully. Fingers crossed!
