COLOURLovers is a social network for color-lovin’ folk. We create and share colors, color palettes, and patterns. It’s an inspiring group and it’s fun to see so many gorgeous — and far out — color combinations. One of the many things I like about COLOURLovers is that you can upload a photo or provide a URL and it will create a color palette from that photo.
Anyhow, COLOURLovers has a sister app for the iPhone called ColourSchemer ($2.99 at the iPhone App Store). With ColourSchemer, you can sample colors from the photos you take on the go. For example, the above Mary Quant photo was taken outside of Kinokuniya Bookstore. Lovely colors on that Mary Quant purse, don’t you think? With ColourSchemer, I was able to extract the hexadecimal representations for these colors while at Japantown. I intend to use these colors for an upcoming design. :)
