Hey guys, I intended to publish this post much earlier today, but this project took much longer than I ever expected! At this time, it’s 4:30 PM, late Friday afternoon and I’m happy to say that it’s done. Yahooooo! I’m going to celebrate by treating myself to a bowl of vermicelli noodles and imperial rolls!
I’m really excited to offer these to my premium members — more blog overlays and this time sourced from a vintage photo album! My last two blog overlays were extremely popular and I hope these will please you, as well. All the templates have photo corners, except for one set, to which you can add photo corners if the spirit moves you. :)
Like my other blog photo templates, these are versatile and modular and you can turn layers on or off, change the layout orientation, turn drop shadows on, etc. Unlike my other templates, these are all high resolution images, so you can also use them for print.
This set includes:
- 9 blog photo templates (PSD and PNG files available)
- 12 photo corners in black, teal, and gold (PNG)
- 2 vintage photo album sheets (PNG)
These templates use clipping masks. If you’re not familiar with clipping masks, please check out this pixel pointers tutorial. Here’s a quick demo showing you how I use these blog photo templates. Please watch in fullscreen to see all the steps clearly:
To populate the templates with your photos:
striped background via stripe generator
mexcellent from dafont
learning curve from dafont
superscript pixel font from dafont
fyra from font squirrel

these look so great– I gotta figure out clipping masks and then I want to buy this
Yay! :) More pretty stuff to play with. Thanks!
I am so grateful for all the wonderful work you do, Katrina. I’m having issues using these templates in Photoshop Elements. Do you–or your readers–have any tips or tricks?
The photo corners and photo album sheets will be put to go use soon, I assure you!
looking great. =) love those corners.
May i ask you.. what program do you use when you making your tutorials?
Have a great day. =)
@maybemej: thanks! i use 2 applications. the first one is called screenflow, a superb application. you can edit your movies, zoom in/out, add transitions, add text, voice overs — all within screenflow. then, i import my movies into iMovie to add soundtracks.
@notabilia i received an email from another premium member with how she was able to work with the templates in PSE. i’m going to paste her message here directly since i don’t have PSE and i don’t understand the process, but i hope it makes sense to you:
“… I just wanted to let you know that I am a Elements user and have had no problems getting the overlays to work. So if there are customers shying away because they use elements let them know they do work and beautifully! I’ve even created printable pages that come out great. The trick is to add the overlay in two layers (or the overlay in one layer and a background paper in another) and then sandwhich the image in between the two layers. CRTL + G (PC sorry I dont know about mac) makes it a mask. Re-Size to taste and make sure you move the overlay layer above the image layer. You will know see your image in the frame. Flatten layers and Viola! Iknow this isn’t a very technical intruction but I hope it helps and encourages element users to purchase your premium package, because it ROCKS!!”
i hope that helps. in any case, i’m going to add PNG versions very soon.
Love them!
Thanks Katrina :)
Amazing as usual! Now I just need to learn how to create videos! Simple?
Ps. I don’t see where you can upload your own patterns – how do I go about doing that?
@Lindsey: it became simple after going through hours and hours of frustration. screenflow is a great program, but as with learning anything new, getting acclimated with screenflow was a challenge.
as for uploading patterns that is also quite simple, just do this:
menut → edit → define pattern
you can also find many tutorials at youtube. :)
Hi Katrina! I finally had a chance to try these out today and I just love them! Thank you so much! Can’t wait to play some more. :)
