TJ's Red Velvet Cupcakes

I really needed a cupcake today and thanks to TJs, I was able to buy 4 not very red “Red Velvet” Cupcakes for $3.99. What a bargain! I ate two for lunch and I have another two reserved for tomorrow night when I watch the season finale of Survivor. On a side-note: these cupcakes are light and delicious on their own, but sinfully good a la mode.

If you like these distressed photo frames I made in Photoshop and you have access to the premium area, you can download them after the jump. There’s a total of eight HI Res frames — four heavily distressed and four lightly distressed . If you don’t have access to the premium area, check out this tutorial where you can learn how to make your own distressed or worn images.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these roughed-up frames as much as I enjoyed my red velvet cupcakes. :)

Although I’m not really a sweet tooth, I have to say the cupcake looks delicious. :]

Oh cake…

and those frames are super cool!

Is red velvet cake any particular kind of cake? Or is it just plain vanilla with red coloring? I have always wondered!

Not sure if this is a *stupid* question, Do these goodies and their tutorials translate to photoshop 7 ?

10 jackie 05/15/2011 at 4:18 pm

Maybe they don’t look like red because they have so much red coloring? Like blood, they don’t look so red when you see them in bags at the hospital.

danielleorama: i use adobe photoshop cs3… sorry, i don’t know if these psd files are backwards compatible with PS 7. :(

pinkbow & lexie: you haven’t tried red velvet?!! oh, you’ve gotta — it’s essentially a very lite chocolate cake with red food coloring. apart from the pretty red, what makes it special is the cream cheese frosting.

hi jackie: this one is really brown. :)

You’re my kind of girl! I love a good red velvet cupcake. Actually, the local cupcake shop has the ABSOLUTE best southern red velvet cupcakes. Southern because it has a chocolate base, but boy is it divine…just like your awesome frames! Thanks again. I have to download them soon :)

GAH! Those look so yummy! (Both the cupcakes AND the frames!)

Wish we had a TJ’s here, but I guess with Austin being the HQ of Whole Foods and all that’s why we don’t have one…heard rumors that maybe we’ll get one soon, tho. Whenever I go to SF I always try to make it to TJ’s so I can stock up on a few things. (I heart their packaging, too!)

I think I love you even more now knowing you like Survivor! Hah I cannot go a week without it :) …and I totally would’ve just eating all four cupcakes in one go, I am such a sucker for baking!

man. i’m at work…i could really use a red velvet cupcake right now!!! does it taste like a typical rv cupcake? i’m totally judging its darkness! haha

i love all of the things you’re creating katrina. the uppercase honeycomb textures are so lovely. someday i will learn how to use all of these! you will be my first resource :)

have a great weekend!
