Margaret and I are doing an iPhone-inspired photo swap — I LOVE her photos! At first, I used my HP printer to print all of the pics she wanted. I used glossy paper, the only kind I had at hand. They looked okay, but not as good as I had hoped. So, I went to my Plan B, which was to send them to the photo lab for professional printing.
I used to sell my Hipstamatic photos as 4×4 prints on Etsy. Back then, I did a lot of work to prep each photo, including upsizing each photo from 72 ppi to 300 dpi. Obviously, I didn’t know what I was doing. I thought that upsizing would make the pictures print better. It took quite a bit photoshopping to get them to look as they did on screen.
This time, however, my lazy ass just sent them to the lab as they came out of my iPhone, as 72 ppi images, unedited and unphotoshopped. To my surprise and delight, they printed beautifully. So I mailed my photos to Margaret and I hope she likes them.
(ETA: By the way, any professional photo lab will be able to print these square photos (Walgreens/Costco can’t do this). For iPhone-specific photos, there’s always Postal Pix. Postal Pix offers 4×4 and 5×5 prints.)

So amazing!! Where do you send your photos? Is it expensive to get them printed at a non-standard (ie 4×4 or 5×5) size? These are very beautiful!
Hello, I love your photos. They’re all really really pretty!
And your rilakkuma iphone sticker/cover is just adorable <3
Have a wonderful day! xoxo
L-O-V-E. All capitals! such warm, candid shots!
Your pictures are beautiful! Plus, I love it when photos have these little black/white frames around them. It reminds me of old pictures my grandparents used to take :)
I love iPhone photos. Especially instagram. Lovely shots!

Beautiful photos! Just curious… where did you print them? Whenever I’ve had my square instagram photos printed (Usually at costco or walmart) they cut off the sides to make it fit a 4×6 photo :(
love your photos. the composition in every single frame is so interesting!
Love your iPhone case – did it come with the strap? I have the Hipstamic case and it has a strap but it doesn’t have a high enough rim to protect the screen although it does have a tripod screw attachment.
These are fab! What photo lab do you recommend? I’m trying to find a good one to send some of my pics to. Thanks!
Thanks, guys. :)

@Pamela: That strap is from my Fuji Instax Mini.
What a super great idea! I love the photos, thank you for sharing. Also, thank you for the resources, I always wondered about where I could print photos in square format. I heart square formats for almost everything! Thanks!
What a timely post! I’ve been thinking about getting some of my photos printed but was unsure of how they’d turn out! Yours are lovely :)

Hi hi!
Thanks for providing the Postal Pix, its great! I was wondering, do you have a site that you know of that will print the pictures for photobooth apps like Incredibooth and pocketbooth? I’d love to have hard copies of those pictures!

how wonderful :) i need to take photos of the frames prints i have from your previous shop – i love them.
They are really beautiful Katrina you alway do a good job. I love your doggy photo I was looking for it in your etsy store and I couldn’t find it :(
That is such a great idea! Especially with the Instagram upgrading to higher res photos. Seriously seems like a great way to start building a micro “micro-stock” catalog. How are your sales going? Any interest?
those little surprises are the best. Great prints Katrina!
