I’ve bought quite a few fonts this year and some of my favorites, like Hiruko, have outline variants. There are many times when I wish my other fonts had a convenient outline variant built in. But, many of the fonts that I like don’t. Fortunately, we can make pseudo-outlined text in Photoshop using simple strokes. The technique I’m going to show you works especially well with geometric fonts and heavy-weight, chunky fonts like Bebas from Font Squirrel.
Oh, if you’re curious about that Mini Strawberry Pie from Trouble Coffee, it was sooooooo good. So VERY good — another Chocolat outdoor patio moment (2:11) indeed. ♥

Special thanks Kristen from Ahoy Graphics for pointing out a more elegant solution than what I came up with. I updated the post using her tip and four steps became three — it’s a whole lot nicer now. Thanks,K!
