I immersed myself in food all weekend. Is this what they call eating your feelings?
Friday: The Bay Watch Cafe, Burlingame
Saturday: The Crepe House, Hayes Valley, SF
Sunday: Copenhagen Cafe, Burlingame
When I finally came up for air, I found this, from Adeline, with one of my favorite quotes posted on her Talking Tree:

Then, for the first time in days, I smiled. Thank you, Adeline.
Thank you for all of your kind and supportive comments, you guys. Reading about your experiences has made me feel hopeful and for that, I thank you. :)

My Much Love Monday Project submission. I realize that what I’m about to share is completely unrelated to the photo (and that I’ve already used this photo in an older post), but here goes:
I love lazy pj days spent watching marathon reruns of ANTM.

Currently watching Cycle 4.
Work was horrible this week. Meetings with my boss are always draining, and this week’s encounter sucked out my blogging energy for two days. I finally began to climb out of my funk this afternoon as I was mixing the batter for my Betty Crocker cake mix for Valentine’s Day. I find pink batter to be especially therapeutic. The cake turned out a little homely, but it smelled really good, so we decided to put it out of its misery and eat it.
picture perfect pink cake
cake mix out of the box
it turned pink after i added water, eggs, and oil

one container of icing wasn’t enough to cover the entire cake

It seemed like a good idea to go to Mel’s Drive-In on Lombard Street. If you’ve ever seen American Graffiti, you’ve seen the place. It’s been ten years since I’ve eaten at Mel’s. Back then, Mel’s Drive In was a happening place to be. It was always hoppin’ with people bouncin’ to loud rock ‘n roll.

But it looks like times have changed. It was kind of dead when I was there. There were only a few bodies in the place, hunched over their meals. I don’t think they were zombies or vampires.
My real reason for going to Mel’s was to take pictures inside the restaurant. I was thinking of the classic retro counters, the juke boxes, and the formica tables. The problem is, I’m shy when it comes to snapping pix inside restaurants. It just feels inappropriate.

In the end, I followed my gut feeling and only took pictures of my table and my food.
One other thing, I was really craving a burger, a veggie burger if you know what I mean. So I ordered one. Alas, it wasn’t up to the high standards set by the Burger Joint in Burlingame. At least the customer service was good.

If my memory serves me well, the meat burgers were really good ten years ago.

PS
Thanks for all your feedback about the Fuji Instax Mini. I’m sold and will buy one in a month or two! :)
I had lunch at Cafe Murano yesterday and ordered my usual bowl of oatmeal topped with berries, bananas, nuts and lots of sweet honey. Some of the new people working at the cafe lately haven’t been familiar with the recipe and were making watery oatmeal. I’m happy to say that they made it just the way I like it this time. It was perfect!

After lunch, I strolled over to Polk Street for my usual visit to Kinokuniya Bookstore. I was hoping to pick up a couple of issues of the February Fudge, but to my disappointment, they haven’t arrived yet. So I left the bookstore and went to the stationery and gift shop to buy a few rubber stamps. I want to embellish my thank you notes and I bought these cute little things:

Frisky dog and bunny TV:

Thank you heart and loving baby:

Here’s a sample of the stamp impressions:
