Lykke from Poke the Panda bought a Dumpling Dynasty Writing Kit at a yard sale (lucky girl!). The kit includes Chinese character stencils, colored pencils, lead pencils, an eraser, a bunny sharpener, a notepad, and a pre-inked stamp. I encourage you to visit her blog so you can see this adorable kit for yourself. Her post inspired me to visit the Dumpling Dynasty website and as I expected, I found several other kits just as cute — in fact, so cute they drive me crazy.

These graphics remind me Chinese propaganda art and think perhaps that Dumpling Dynasty was inspired by Chubby Babies or 1930s Shanghai advertising posters.
I bought a Blythe show ribbon from Karli’s shop, The Gnome Hut. I got it for myself because I thought it would make an adorable brooch.
I also bought a set of Vintage Blythe-sized Valentine’s cards. They’re going to make a great addition to my wall.

They’re so cute they make my heart melt.

Karli realized I was buying the Blythe show ribbon for myself, and was optimistic that I would have my own Blythe doll someday, so she made me a life-sized show ribbon to match my future dollie.

She also sent me this cute floral brooch. Thank you, Karli — I love it all! :D

If you’re so inclined to celebrate *love day*:
Happy Valentine’s Day!
You may have noticed that I’ve been embellishing some of my photos. Sometimes I use an old cabinet card frame to perk up an image. Other times, I use washi tape frames. I bought both as digital kits from Kitschy Digitals and last night, I bought another one — Vintage Stacked Flowers, which are irresistible retro plastic flowers. I think they add a dose of fun and pizazz to my blog posts.

The creative force behind Kitschy Digitals is Danielle Thompson. I love her photos and in case you didn’t know, she has a killer blog, too!

Make your own kawaii pastry charms with kits from the Decotti Kawaii Pastry Cheff (sic). I learned about these cute kits while visiting Chelsea Nicole’s blog, and while I was watching the video below, I took comfort in seeing a room full of grown women enjoying their toys as much as I enjoy mine. It validates my own kawaii craze in some strange way. Seeing this video makes me want to visit Japan already!

Do you like the pink washi tape around that last image? I bought a set of 10 washi tape frames by Kitschy Digitals. It was on sale at Jessica Sprague for a mere buck today! The sale ends in a few hours and I’m glad I was able buy it on time (thanks for the heads up, Karli!). Still, even at the regular price of $3.99 — it’s a deal!

I had lunch at Cafe Murano yesterday and ordered my usual bowl of oatmeal topped with berries, bananas, nuts and lots of sweet honey. Some of the new people working at the cafe lately haven’t been familiar with the recipe and were making watery oatmeal. I’m happy to say that they made it just the way I like it this time. It was perfect!

After lunch, I strolled over to Polk Street for my usual visit to Kinokuniya Bookstore. I was hoping to pick up a couple of issues of the February Fudge, but to my disappointment, they haven’t arrived yet. So I left the bookstore and went to the stationery and gift shop to buy a few rubber stamps. I want to embellish my thank you notes and I bought these cute little things:

I want to thank Kellie from 74 Lime Lane for featuring my shop in her Lime Lite series this week — many thanks, Kellie!
