Photoshop Tutorial:  Add/Edit a Background Color
This is how my document looks like before adding a background color
Add/Edit a Background Color
Before starting, make sure that the layer you want to change is the active layer.
Select the Eye Dropper tool.
Position the Eye Dropper on either the foreground or background colors and double click.
Add/Edit a Background Color
A Color Picker box will open.
Pick a color (I’m going to choose white for this example).
Click OK.

Choose the Paint Bucket from the tool box and click anywhere on the document’s active layer. “Pour” the new color.

This is how my new document looks with a white background.
